STAND FOR GOD
Scripture Reading - Ephesians 6:11-14
11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, NIV
The definition of “Stand” is: To keep, or assume an upright position, to maintain a steadfast position, or attitude
as of support, or opposition.
As believers we must take our “stand” for the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Word of God. In these times
standing for righteousness may be unpopular but as a disciple of Christ it is the only way. Standing for the Gospel
of Jesus Christ means presenting His Way as the only way. Although it would sound more politically correct to
acknowledge all religions as viable options to Heaven that is not a Christian stand. The Good News of Jesus Christ
clearly identifies the Blood of Jesus as the only sacrifice sufficient to pay for all our sins. This bold statement
of truth does not require logical facts to persuade the unbeliever. However, it does require a confession of Jesus
Christ as your personal Lord because you believe God, the Father, raised Him from the dead. Jesus came to the earth
personally to save your soul and resurrect your body but it does require your permission. The instant you receive
Jesus as your Lord you have given God permission to save you from eternal destruction. This is why we must also
stand for God’s Word because God’s Word is His personal teaching for you. God’s Word includes His instructions for
you to live a better life. The Word of God is the only way for you to learn about who God is and why He does what
He does. Standing for the Word of God means standing for truth and righteousness in a false and wicked world. It
has been said in Christianity, “If you don’t stand for God, you have already fallen for the devil. We know people
don’t like absolute speech about their future but that is exactly what the Father God demands. The Gospel of Jesus
Christ and the Word of God is our standard to live by. Therefore we must choose to stand for the standards of Heaven
if we truly desire to impact this world for God. Amen!
